If you have lived in Claremont for more than a summer, you already know the sound of a Memorial Park Monday. Speakers being tested a little after six. A folding chair squeaking open on the lawn. Someone's kid running a lap around the bandshell before the first song. The park works its way from empty to full in about forty minutes, and by the time the horn section counts in, the block from Indian Hill to Harrison Avenue is quietly claimed for the night.
What outsiders miss about Claremont in August is that the Village is not slowing down for the end of summer. It is running its tightest weekly rhythm of the year. Between the concert series, Friday Nights Live at the Depot, the First Saturday Art Walk, and the Sunday market on Harvard, there is a named, recurring event within a ten-minute walk every day of the week except Tuesday and Thursday. This post is a look at what that week actually looks like right now, plus how it hands off to the one Saturday in October that changes the shape of the whole Village.

The Memorial Park bandshell concerts run Monday nights from July 6 through August 24, 2026, which means at the time of writing there are only three Mondays left. The 2026 series is a broad mix rather than a themed run, with Cold Duck, Queen of Hearts, Acoustical Mystery Tour, and The Answer among the acts still ahead. Parking is the sport, not the concert. Memorial Park sits just north of the Village and streets fill up fast on Monday nights; on-street parking along Indian Hill, Harrison, and Yale goes early, so many locals park in one of the Village structures and walk north through the tree-lined avenues. If you leave your house at 6:45, you are parking somewhere you did not want to park.

Friday Nights Live runs 6 to 9 pm and is free and open to the public. The practical read for a Claremont resident: it is the one Village night where you can walk out of dinner at nine and the streets still feel awake. Combine it with an early table at Tutti Mangia at 102 Harvard, Bardot at 206 W. Bonita, or Espiau's at 109 Yale, and you have a Friday that does not require driving anywhere after the first glass of wine.
The first Saturday of every month is the one to circle. The Claremont Art Walk takes place in the Claremont Village from 6 to 9 pm, with local galleries, artists, light bites and refreshments. August's fell on the 1st this year; September's falls on the 5th. If you have out-of-town family visiting on the right weekend, this is the walk you take them on before dinner.
Sunday belongs to the market. Every Sunday from 8 am to 1 pm, the Claremont Village fills with fresh produce, handmade goods, flowers, and friendly faces on the 200 block of Harvard Avenue. The stall lineup rotates enough that regulars know the summer window matters. Stone fruit, tomatoes, and melons are at their best right now, and the flower vendors are cutting from local growers rather than shipping in. October will look and taste different.
There is also a quieter Friday inside the Packing House worth knowing about. The Claremont Gallery Market at the Packing House Atrium at 532 W. First Street runs every Friday from 6 to 9 pm, with contemporary art, makers, and craftsmen rotating weekly. It shares a time slot with Friday Nights Live, so residents tend to treat the two as one continuous walk between the Depot and the Packing House block.
The Village restaurant list is long and stable enough that locals rarely need to scroll. A few practical anchors depending on what the evening calls for:
None of this is new. The point is that the same set of ~40 eateries and cafés inside the Packing House and the Village core is what makes the August weekly rhythm work. You are never rearranging your Monday because the one restaurant you like is booked.
Once the concert series ends on August 24, the Village calendar shifts from a weekly cadence to a monthly one, and then everything points at the same date: the 44th Village Venture Arts & Crafts Festival, hosted by the Claremont Chamber of Commerce out of 205 Yale Ave. The Chamber has confirmed the 2026 festival for October 24.
The scale is genuinely different from anything else on the calendar. Village Venture brings over 23,000 visitors to town and is the largest one-day event in Claremont. Over 400 booths sell art, crafts, apparel, and food across the Village streets, with a costume parade and a beer, cider, and wine garden.

The road closures are wide. Based on last year's pattern, First Street between Indian Hill and College, Second Street and Bonita from Harvard to about Indian Hill, and Yale and Harvard from Fourth to First shut down for the day. If you live inside that ring, plan errands for Friday.
Parking migrates. In prior years, event parking was available at the Metrolink lot at 201 W. First, the parking structure next to the Packing House at 470 W. First, the lots by Walter's at 310 N. Yale and Bank of America at 339 N. Yale, and the Helen Renwick Library at 208 N. Harvard. Same footprint, thousands more people using it.
If you host holiday guests, October 24 is the day to invite them out. The costume parade lines up around midday and the crafts booths thin out around four, which is the sweet spot to peel off toward an early Village dinner before the streets reopen.
Most Southern California downtowns treat summer programming as a marketing calendar. Claremont treats it as a habit. The Packing House itself, built in 1909 as the last-standing of four Claremont packing houses along the Santa Fe rail corridor, has been running fine dining, live music, wine tastings, art walks, and festivals under one roof for years now.
